Bella Vita River Terrace Grille welcomes you to a warm, relaxing atmosphere on the banks of the beautiful Guadalupe River. Dine on our old world Italian favorites, succulent steaks, seafood, char-grilled burgers and other diverse entrees. Enjoy our excellent wines and tempting desserts as you dine by our fireplace on those cold winter days and nights or dine outside on our multi-level terrace overlooking the beautiful Guadalupe River and our local park. It’s a dining experience unlike any other in Kerrville.

The restaurant building itself was originally a home built in 1973. Some years later it was converted into a restaurant. That restaurant was sold and the new owner, Kathy Sher, called it, “Kathy’s on the River” which stayed in business for some sixteen years. Eventually, however, she closed the restaurant to pursue a new project.

In the summer of 2008, Dave Waide approached Billy Gene and Janie Smith about opening a steak restaurant. The idea of opening a steak restaurant that would also include Italian favorites and delicious seafood resulted in the three of them forming an alliance to offer Kerrville something special. After a total renovation of the property, Billy Gene and Janie along with Chef Dave, opened Bella Vita just after Christmas in 2008. Over the last three years, Bella Vita has grown in popularity and is now considered one of the top restaurants in Kerrville.

Bella Vita was written up in the October 2009 issue of Texas Monthly for having amazing steaks and Chef Dave certainly deserves a big feather in his hat for that. Eventually, Chef Dave moved on, but his hard work and dedication to providing delicious food will continue for many years to come.

Josh has been in restaurant management for over ten years. He began his career as a busboy and dishwasher, then became a server and then supervisor and finally moved up to management, all this within his first six months of employment. After a couple of years, he had an opportunity to manage an Italian restaurant named Portabella. His next position was with The Meadows in California where he was the food and beverage manager. After The Meadows, he was offered a job as manager for Marie Calendars in Pismo Beach, California. He’s been in Kerrville for two years managing the busy local location for a national franchisee.
