Billy Gene and Janie Smith, Proprietors

The Smiths bring over 30 years in the restaurant and catering industry working for corporations, partnerships and individual owners to bear in creating downtown Kerrville’s only riverside dining experience.

Billy Gene and Janie began their first restaurant in Bandera, Texas with their own concept back in 1996, followed by a second location in Kerrville in 2005. The Bandera restaurant was sold in 2006, leaving the Smiths available to concentrate on Billy Gene’s Restaurant in Kerrville and the successful launch of Bella Vita in 2008.

“Our philosophy is to provide our guests with the freshest, most delicious food available with reasonable prices that is served by a smiling, attentive service staff in a sparkling clean warm and inviting atmosphere.

When we developed Bella Vita, we wanted it to be a place where you caught a hint of Italy. The atmosphere had to be warm and inviting, not pretentious. A place where people were encouraged to truly enjoy themselves with plenty of talking, laughter and even singing. A place nice enough to take someone for a romantic dinner while enjoying the beauty of the river from the terrace without having to take out a loan to pay for it.”
